Driven by Purpose – Elevating Performance and Potential

What a privilege it was to collaborate with the inspiring Helen Fullen, CEO and Founder of Alinea, during a recent online workshop, Driven by Purpose – Elevating Performance and Potential. Together with an extraordinary group of speakers, we created a space where mindfulness, self-care, and purpose-driven practices could take centre stage. It was a joy to guide participants through an exploration of what it means to truly pause amidst the whirlwind of daily life.

This event brought together a dynamic team of experts who each contributed something truly valuable to the conversation:

The Art of Stillness: Finding Balance in a Busy World – Jacqueline Toner, Healing Flow Yoga

Stillness is more than just the absence of movement; it’s a practice of being present, aware, and connected to oneself. For many of us, the pace of modern life leaves little room for moments of quiet introspection. Instead, we find ourselves rushing from one task to the next, trying to balance the endless demands of work, family, and personal obligations. This constant motion can lead to stress, burnout, and a feeling of being disconnected from our own needs.

During my session, we explored how vital it is to embrace moments of stillness as part of our daily lives. Through gentle yoga flows, mindful breathing, and exercises like mind mapping, participants were encouraged to take stock of where they are, both mentally and emotionally. These tools aren’t just about finding calm in the moment; they’re about cultivating habits that foster long-term resilience and balance.

Building a Resilient Mindset: Time to Thrive – Anna Marie Brosi, Coaching Psychologist

Anna Marie Brosi shared her expertise on resilience, offering invaluable insights into how we can build a resilient mindset to thrive in the face of life’s challenges. Her practical strategies and warm, relatable approach empowered participants to see resilience as a skill they can develop with intentional practice. By fostering resilience, we create a strong foundation to navigate stress and maintain a sense of purpose.

Fuelling Success: The Importance of Nutrition – Laura Fergus, Inner Harmony Health

Laura Fergus, a Nutritional Therapist, Health Coach, and palliative care nurse, delivered a powerful presentation on managing blood sugar levels and the critical role of nutrition in managing stress. She reminded us that what we fuel our bodies with has a direct impact on our mental and emotional wellbeing. Her session was packed with actionable tips to incorporate balanced nutrition into daily routines to enhance energy, focus, and overall health.

EmpowerHER: Prioritising Fitness and Strength – Dr Kate Pumpa, AthlenX

Dr Kate Pumpa, Professor of Sport and Exercise Physiology at UCD, led an engaging session on the importance of exercise in managing stress. She introduced us to the concept of chronotypes and guided participants in identifying their own to better align their exercise routines with their natural rhythms. Kate’s message was clear: movement isn’t just about fitness; it’s a powerful tool for enhancing mental clarity and emotional resilience.

Gratitude for Collaboration and Connection

Deeply grateful also to Elaine Patterson, Programme Manager at InterTradeIreland – Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team, Meg Magill, Aisling King, Mentor and Business and Personal Development Coach and Helena Deane, Programme Manager for Ireland’s Strategy for Marine Research, Knowledge & Innovation at the Marine Institute for the thoughtful conversations and contributions to this innovative and holistic approach to supporting entrepreneurs. Working alongside Helen Fullen and this exceptional team of speakers was a reminder of the power of collaboration and shared vision. Their dedication to creating spaces where women can thrive made this workshop an incredible experience. Together, we were able to connect with a lovely, engaged group of women, each on their own unique journey, and provide them with tools to weave stillness, resilience, and self-care into their routines.

To the participants, thank you for showing up for yourselves. Your openness and willingness to engage with the practices we shared made the experience truly special. We hope you walked away feeling not only refreshed but also empowered to create more moments of stillness, strength, and self-care in your everyday life.

Moving Forward

As I reflect on Driven by Purpose – Elevating Performance and Potential, I see it as a gentle reminder that self-care and intentional living are always available to us, even in the busiest of times. By intentionally making space for stillness, movement, and nourishment, we can transform our relationship with ourselves and the world around us.

Let’s continue to carry the spirit of this workshop forward, one small moment at a time. Whether it’s through a deep breath, a mindful meal, or the simple act of noticing the present moment, may we all find the clarity, strength, and balance we deserve.

Get in touch if you or your organisation would like to embrace purpose, resilience, and self-care and elevate our potential together.
