Finding My Voice Again

As a child, I absolutely loved to sing. School choirs were my happy place, and I was often picked to sing solos. But here’s the thing: I was incredibly shy. The thought of singing alone in front of a crowd would cripple me with fear. I even remember one time they had to pair me with another girl just so I could get through it!

Then there’s another memory, quite vivid: singing my heart out in a Christmas choir, completely lost in the music, when two girls in front of me turned around and harshly told me to “Shut the f**k up!” I was so shocked, so startled, that I stopped singing instantly. And I didn’t sing publicly for a very, very long time after that. I just shut down.

It took me a while, but over the past 15 years, something incredible happened. Through dedicated yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices, I’ve been on a journey of profound self-discovery. I’ve learned to quiet that harsh inner critic, build my confidence, mend my self-esteem, and truly embrace who I am.

The "Rooted in Calm: Nurturing Your Growth & Reconnection in a Busy World" course focused on the Root Chakra and the importance of balancing this energy centre to support the alignment and well-being of the other Chakras in the body. It was a holistic experience, designed to benefit both mind and body. The course consisted of six sessions, each lasting two hours, with follow-up guidance and a 30-minute yoga and breathing practice between sessions. Each session had a unique theme, keeping it engaging and well-structured. The first session introduced the Root Chakra in detail, explaining its significance and what participants could expect from the rest of the course. There were many practical tools for balancing the Chakras, including mindful breathing, walking, various yoga poses, and meal plans with recipes to incorporate into daily life. The course emphasised that small, intentional changes can have a big impact. There were also journaling and meditation exercises to help with grounding. Being well-grounded supports not just the Root Chakra but the balance of all Chakras in the body. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found it incredibly valuable. As a reflexologist with a passion for holistic practices, I appreciated Jacqueline’s thoughtful approach and the wealth of information she shared over the six weeks. The videos of the sessions are a fantastic resource for revisiting the material. I highly recommend Jacqueline’s course for its content, presentation, and overall value.
